We were very excited to have a visit from Aunt Lisa last week. Aunt Lisa is Tim’s sister. She was able to come and visit us and spend some time getting to know the girls. The girls had a great time with Lisa and we were able to share (and illustrate) more about family relationships. The girls are familiar with mom and dad, brother and sister and even grandma (since Grandma Becky, Tim’s mom, visited in January) but aunt, uncle and cousin were new for them. We had fun telling them about family relationships and Aunt Lisa had a great time telling stories about “when papa was a little boy.”
Aunt Lisa brought a special gift for the girls as well. She and grandma and other family members made tiny little cloth dolls with clothes that resembled each of the girls. They were delighted with the dolls (even when we had to change the hair on a few of them). She also brought a wooden doll house (painted lovingly by her 12 year old son, Noah) with some doll house furniture. The girls have been having a great time taking turns playing with their little dolls and the doll house. What we really enjoy seeing is that they are using each other’s dolls to be different family members. They are creating stories with the dolls and the house. Creating stories is a very big part of teaching the girls to use creative thinking and problem solving and they are learning these things through this creative play. We see them creating story after story as they play and it is amazing to see the progress.
Thank you for being a part of our story as well. Thanks for your prayers and support as we raise these girls to glorify God.
