Leah at Eleven Months:

Posted by on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 (EST)

Leah update

I am constantly amazed by the amount of learning and growth that takes place in the first year of life.  Newborns are a far cry from the babies and toddlers they will be come.  When Leah arrived at HOPE at about 6 months of age (in November 08), she was tiny, ill and developmentally behind.  The little girl we have now is nothing like the little girl we brought home.  Though she has always been filled with joy, she is quite her own person now.  She is curious, very active and into everything.  Her favorite thing is to crawl toward the dog dish and race me there so she can dump the water on the floor.   She claps her hands and says “bravo”, she takes any object and holds it to her ear and says “hallo”, and her favorite word right now is “papa” which makes me very happy at 3 am.  She is pulling herself up to walk around furniture and she loves to ‘get her groove on’ while the girls sing.  Her nickname is Mimi (which means kitten) and the girls love to chant over and over “Leah a mimi, Leah a mimi” to see her dance and clap.  She is such a special baby and we are so happy God has entrusted us with her care.
